I have a 13.2hh welsh sec C mare that was coverd once last year on 14th june. This was the only day she would stand for the stallion. She was later scanned in foal.
My friend who owns the stallion said she is due today (11/5/06).So she has been infoal 331 day's.What date would you say she was due if she was one of yours?
She has a big bag (but is stabled day/night due to midges) and has had for a week or so but has started to bag up a few weeks ago.She is a maiden mare and this is only our second foal so not sure what signs to look for.Shes very quite, still eating her food and enjoys going for a walk but loves to get back in her stable.
Thanx

She should be due around May 20, 2006. She would be 340 days, but as she is a maiden she could go Any time after 330 days. I would not keep her in all the time, as she can get stocked up and also develop edema.

There are so many signs that you can watch for and she may show them or she may not. They're all so different.
We had a maiden mare foal last night with no notice - a tiny bag was our only idea that she was getting close. We had no due dates as I bought her from an auction and haven't received all her paperwork yet. She's only been here 4 - 5 weeks.
Some tell tale signs are when she no longer looks AS pregnant from behind as she did (baby has dropped and is in position), her belly may drop into a V shape; her rump will drop off and she may look like her butt is in a v shape too (from overhead), she should get very soft in her rump area and may loose control of her tail....
The fluid from her bag should get very sticky - that's usually the best sign.
Good luck!!! Keep us posted.
