Angie at J&A Mini Farm used that for the first time a month or two ago. She would be a good reference for this.
I think it's a wonderful thing. Haven't used it myself, but for horses that are hard to handle...you can still make sure they get their treatment.
We give a daily wormer and then give a paste on top of that, but not as frequently as we would if we didn't use the daily wormer. We always rotate our wormers....so that we can cover all the parasite issues.

My horses are fussy eaters, so I can't use any of the "on-feed" products, and I don't know much about them. As far as I know, most of them require daily dosage as top-dressing on feed. I use paste wormers in a rotation recommended by local vets. Paste wormers do need to be used in rotation (you can't always use the same one) and given every 6-8 weeks. The best thing to do is check with a local vet about what to use and when to use it, since parasite cycles depend on where you are located.

With buttercup we get our stuff from the omish place up here. and he said that we only need to deworm them every 6 months if they arnt around other horses. but if you only have the 2 like we have he said once every 6 months. and to do diffrent times.

We used Iverease with one of our past mares that didn't want to take the paste. I guess that it works just the same... she never got wormy.
Hugger1991, what kind of wormer is it that you only have to worm them every 6 months? Horses are supposed to be wormed every 6 to 8 weeks regardless if they are kept around other horses. This is because worms are passed through their own poop and from there the worms go in the grass and from there the move to the top of the blades of the grass. That's when the horse eats the grass and the worms enter their stomachs. Horses should be kept on a regular worming program. And like Heather said, you should rotate between brands, that way the worms do not build up an immunity to just one type of wormer!
Hope I've helped... and happy worming!
