Well, prayers are lovely, but it seems to me a good first step would have been to call the fire department and report it. That way what may have been a small fire to begin with STAYS a small fire. You can say "I'm not sure but it looks like there may be a fire in such and such a location." In my experience, the sheriff and the fire dept like to know about stuff BEFORE it is a total runaway disaster.
After that, hitch up your trailer, organize halters and leads and have horses where you can get them to load and move, account for any cats, dogs, other small pets, have carriers ready, make sure your prescriptions and important papers are handy and that your truck has gas.
But really, first call the darn fire department. It's why we have them. It's a lot easier for god to put out the fire using a truck, a hose, and a human than it is for him to arrange a local downpour or anything.

Well when hubby called last night I asked him about it and said there probably just up htere buring piles from logging...
I didnt want to call anyone and sound dumb.. I have no clue wht the emergancy numbers are here, you dont call 911 here, and we have a volunter fire department that fights fire once a year if that..lol im new to the area but hubby lived here his whole life so figured id talk to him before I freak out the whole way..
Luckly if it were a bad fire I have no horses here, there an hour away from me right now while we build fence.. but bad thing is I have no car, no license, and no transportation for myself to leave if hubby is at work
but all is well, and fire is gone..

I would find out the emergency numbers right away and post them by the phone for the time a real emergency show up. You might not have time to look them up. Never delay calling in just because you might look dumb you would look dumber if someone lost all when you might have prevented it

I agree ten fold. Also for basic safety you need your numbers. Here can get help for anything just calling 911. but if not GET THE ACTUAL NUMBERS, program them in cell if have one and keep them posted centrally where you know where they are yikes.
I remember when there was a house fire in a condo up the street, was carrying laundry in and saw smoke yikes, one building between it and ours.. street was closed off for hours, Walked up the street to meet my mom, and we went for dinner as she couldnt get in...
