Hi everyone, My husband and I are buying our farm, hopefully at the end of this year. My question is, does anyone one know a really good web site that would give me information on horses. We would like to buy some horses after we move, but I would like to learn more about them before hand. I have read alot on Mare share and have learned alot, but I would like a web page I can go back if I need to, to learn more.
Any help would be great, thanks.

Reading is good but hands on experience is best. Do you have any farms near you? Maybe you could see if they would let you clean stalls, clean tack, groom horses, and do general farm chores. Things you will need to know when you have your own farm. Some other ideas are riding lessons, a horse shelter, or a horse 4H club. I know shelters can be heart wrenching but they always need volunteers and you will learn soooo much while helping an unfortunate living creature. Don't knock those 4H kids. You'd be surprised what you can learn from them. Plus most clubs can use an adult volunteer to help with projects, shows, and horse bowls. A lot of clubs take field trips to farms, shows, and training clinics. Ours' even went to a polo match. We learned tons of stuff. If you take riding lessons see if they will let you groom, tack, untack, and cool out your horse. My english instructor did this with all her students. You might even be able to work around the farm in exchange for the lessons. I hope this gives you some more ideas about where you can learn about horses.

I second the getting experiance post. Hands-on experience is best and also if you have problems there are people who can help you.
