I use the Bronco spray and it seems to do the trick. I reapply it every few days and after it rains because my girls like to stand in the rain and it washes off them. I spray it in their mini barn also and it keeps the flies out, but I also have a fly trap that catches alot of the flies, too.

I use the Bronco fly spray too, but I have a few mares that are "spray shy". An excellent product for horses that HATE sprays is Cheval Inside Out - it's a supplement that you put in their feed and the flies will NOT land on them - it's amazing. It's like a tar though - not as easy to use as a pellet would be, and it took my girls a few days to decide they better eat it, but it works great.

Heather, Buttercup HATES when we try to spray her with fly spray and I feel so bad for her out there kicking at the flies, she looks so miserable. Trigger lets us spray him, I guess it is because we have had Trigger since the day he was born and we have only had Buttercup for 9 months and the people who had her before didn't put anything on her, so she isn't used to it. I noticed you use Cheval Inside OUt ~ where do you get that!! I am wondering if that would work for Buttercup. I will try anything for our girl. Thanks in advance.

I will say this that the stuff Heather told about is real good keeping the horses so they aren't pestered by flies. I have noticed the gnats aren't so happy about the stuff either. Really works good takes the girls a little while to gety used to eating it but once they do it is wonderful.

I LOVE Bronco flyspray....because it is water based, I was able to put it around (and on top of neosporin) Caspers cuts....it didn't burn, the tri-tech did. he wasn't real sure about being sprayed at first, but he's starting to get used to it. Also, I just put him on 6 pills of odorless garlic about a week ago, so maybe they'll work together to get him fly free.

OH, also if you live in a really wet area, or your animals have longer hair, or are outside a whole lot, Endure works really well. I used to use it on my cattle, ( I showed cattle for a few years) it works great, and can withstand: rain, rinsing, and sweating for a full 2 weeks. The only thing besides time that takes that stuff off is Soap. It worked great and was mild enough to use on my lambs at shows. Good luck with the flies.

I have used Bronco with good results. I have used it on all of my animals, even the cats. It does need reapplying every 2 days or so. Another product I have used is Ultrashield. It lasts 5 days and has sunscreens and conditioners. Also comes in towelettes which is great for ears and faces. I have used OFF Skintastic cream on my llamas' ears and faces. On wounds I use Flys Off ointment. This also works good on ears. It can be used on dogs too. There is also a product out called Tri-Care. It's a wound ointment that is an antiseptic, pain reliever, and fly barrier. I haven't tried this so can't tell you much about it.

Cheval Inside Out can be purchased through Jeffers. Jeffers also has their own brand of feed through fly repellant that is similar to Cheval. www.jeffersequine.com
