Lindsey I am very glad no one was hurt badly in the accident. I also live in Kansas (Abilene) and I was lucky, because we did not live on a farm so my daughters did not have a chance to get a permit to drive until they were 15 ans 1/2 thank goodness. It will help you to talk about the accident, it helped me alot. Best Wishes. Always Buckle Up. It saves lifes, it saved mine.

The Ford Escape is a nice enough vehicle if you are looking for something disposable, but I worked in a garage for seven years, and I would not own a Ford. They have ultra-crappy computer stuff, all the control bits are junk. They also quit making replacement parts available at 8 years on many models, figuring you should go buy a new one because the old one won't be worth fixing. Oh, and the Explorers EAT UP brakes, have all kinds of problems with sticking calipers, etc. And the list goes on...
I'm sure glad you're okay!

erika, we have had great luck with Fords and are sticking to them. Of course we could get a Chevy, just like the one that we hit, and that caught fire before anyone got out, and whose side impact airbags did not inflate. The gas line is not supposed to rupture, that could have been easily deadly. Our Ford though, crumpled where is was supposed to, the engine was not damaged, and the whole inside of the cab did not bust at all, AND it did not catch fire. I think I will take my chances with a Ford.

We're a Ford Family also Lindsey...I've had better luck with them than with any vehicle I have ever owned. I'd rather replace the brakes than to have to try and pull my family from the Chevy vehicle in your pictures. Any make or model of a vehicle can have problems, including Fords but I'll stick with my Ranger.

They are a truck but not hard to turn and park ;D I have been shopping for some as my first car, they are actaully priced great!

This is my second Ford Ranger Lindsey, and I just love it!! I had my first one when I was 16, and it wasnt cool for girls to drive trucks back in the "old days"...but I was a rebel...lol I can haul enough hay, grain and shavings for a few weeks at a time, and with the extended cab, I can even take more than one kid with me when we go places. Although my 16 year old thinks I should get a car...he has ulterior motives, he thinks he will get MY truck!! Wrong!! LOL

How high do you have to stack up the hay ;D To me it looks like you could only fit one or two bales.
Is your's 4 wheel drive? With the Kansas weather you would only need it for one or two days of the year lol!

Since I only have two minis, I only need 6 bales at a time, and I stack them 2 high, same with the shavings and grain, even with the extended cab, I can still fit it all in and only need to make one trip. My truck is 4 wheel drive, but I havent had to use it yet...lol We did get snow, but I was able to get up the hills just fine, and only left the house when I absolutley had too, besides, what snow we did get was melted after a day, day and a halff at the most!

We own a Ford Exporer and its great, just love it. Quite a lot of people around our area tow 2 horse bumper pull floats(trailers) with them and have no complaints. We asked every Explorer owner we saw at shows for about 6 months what they thought before we finally bought ours.

Worse then snow is the ice! Thats what I am more worried about. I have hit a car at 50mph, I don't need to hit a tree at that speed! lol
