Thats no fun. You need to make sure you have control of the horse, it could have been bad if you got your hand caught in the rope.

meghan..Not many 2yr olds are ready to be ridden In all the horses I have had and have over the years I DO NOT start my 2yr olds. You need to wait Charlie just Might be telling you something. We all need to Stop and Listen to our horses. Do Lots of ground work with Charlie and do not push him. I do Harness Racing and You'll never see a 2yr old of Mine Racing!

i agree with wendi. Even if you do start 2 yr olds, it should only be light work, no trotting up or down hills. If this pony is already supposedly broke, it was definitely started too early.
sorry that you had this bad experience. Don't lose your riding confidence because accidents happen.

I am pretty sure she was trotting him on a lead, even then he should have some more ground manners. As for a strong 2yo pony, wait untill he is 4, then he will see how far he can really pull you!

OH, I didn't realize that she was trotting on a lead... duh! I thought for some odd reason that she was riding him. I've learned through experience that you don't want to trot your horse w/o good ground manners and w/o the horse's respect. I did that two years ago with one of my horses... actually was trotting her into the paddock and let her go, and she gave me a good kick in the leg! Be careful in what you do with your boy, because horses are unpredictable!
