Generally speaking....... Do you find that your seasoned broodmares carry longer or do they typically go a little sooner than maiden mares. This will be my mares 6th foal (my 1st) and I'm just a tad curious if I should expect a baby before her due date. This is a miniature mare and she's 12 y/o.

I've only been doing this three years and I've found that mine are consistent to their own pattern. In other words...Vicki always foals on her due date or one or two days either side. Nina and Rowdy foal right around 300 days. But as far as age making a difference - I just don't know. All I know is that they all have their own set of rules. Luckily, Cowgirl is in good hands. I know Jim and Mary will take great care of her Have you picked out names? Shannon has a list of over 300 names that we like to pick from.

No Heather I have NOT picked out names . Always considered it bad luck to name anything before I see it...call me superstitious . I know Cowgirl will recieve excellent care at Blue Blazes Maternity Camp , so that's one less thing I have to worry about.
