Hey ya'll i thought i would share some of these things with you! Try them out if you would like tell me how you like them!
Take a sponge and wipe face, neck, legs, spine with lavender oil and witch hazel mixed in warm water. The animal will relax and take in the soothing smell. This mixture cleans the coat and soothes the animal.
Sprinkle baking soda with crushed or powdered lavender over the coat. Brushed in, then back out. Dirt and grime will lift out and off the horse. Use this if you do not or cannot use the water method.
Allow horse to graze on fresh herbal mixture of freshly picked dandelion, wheat grass, nettle leaves and red clover. The shine will come back into their coat and the sigh of pure pleasure of smelling fresh greens. Dandelion helps with gas and preventing colic..but don't over feed the dandelion.
Calendula essence put into water 2 times a week brings softness come back into their coats and clears cloudy eyes.
Fresh chamomile, lavender, lemon balm, and peppermint make a hot compress. Wrap legs with compress to relieve strain and stiffness from standing so long and lack of exercise.

These sure sound gooood. For me! LOL. A school nurse I had in grade school used witch hazel for all of our little scrapes, and bee stings. It is very cooling and soothes boo boos, stings, and mild burns. She also used clove oil for tooth aches and gum irritations. She put it on a cotton swab and had us hold it there for a few minutes. Yummm. Tastes like red hots. Most of us liked this treatment. LOL. Years later I developed a dry socket after getting a wisdom tooth pulled. It had to be packed with gauze soaked in aspirin and you got it, clove oil. A little warning about taking herbs. Some herbs when taken with some medications or other herbs can have negative effects. This goes for humans too. Be sure to check with your doctor or vet before starting herbs if you or your pet are on medications for health problems.
