I really did not know where to put this because there are so many topics and different areas that all kind of go together. I know that the Care Fund was started and it is a wonderful idea! This can help so many people, we all have been in a bad situation and things usually happen during the worst possible times! I would just like to challenge everyone out there to give in honor of Mulligans Run Farm/Rowdy and Rosie. We all sit up during the day and all night long chatting and watching the miracles of birth and these beautiful creatures and the reason that we get to do this is because of Heather along with many others. I know that she has a large vet bill from Dancer and now one with Rowdy and Rosie and they are not even home yet! Please, let's all try and give in their honor to help out a little since she is the main reason that we get to enjoy each other's friendship and these beautiful horses and the great service that she gives to us. She can truly benefit from the Care Fund. God bless and let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

OMG!!!!!!! I can't believe not one person has posted to this thread Heather has been so generous to so many people Every time there is a thread started on helping someone Heather is always there giving (That is Heather always helping). Now MRF and Heather need us to all pitch in and help out a little. Heather has in no way ask for any donations. If everyone on this board gave 3.00 that would be close to 2000.00 That will not even come close to paying the bill I am sure. But it would be a huge help for one of our own. I understand some can't give 3.00, give what you can. The way I look at it is I will only be giving up a coke and a candy bar for 3.00. I don't need the coke or the candy bar (LOL) I myself know how hard it is to have a huge vet bill (Heather has 2!!) Please donate for our dear friend.

Well, I for one was without a job until two days ago. I have no spare income. I don't eat lunch out, I don't buy candybars and I don't buy sodas. I plan every meal very closely and cannot afford to give anyone anything right now.
And now, as horrible as I feel about that, I will leave and stop using bandwidth that I can't afford to pay for with a "donation".
Thank you for making me feel like crap.

You are right Angie! As treasurer of MSC, I can tell you we can not give what we don't have. Heather is such a DESERVING person of these proceeds in everyway, being our largest donator thus far. All of our fundraising ideas and such are at this moment coming out of our own pockets, but we alone can not keep this up forever. If this is to truly work we are in desparate need of anything from monetary funds to tack that you can not use as can be auctioned off one our website. Chero and I are currently crocheting saddle blankets that should be done within the month, and I have to say as it has been quite sometime since I have done any of that, they are turning out to be quite pretty. We are also needing pictures for our calendars (saddlebredlover has made a post on the MSC board), with your permission, they will be printed and sold and all proceeds will go to the MSC fund. PLEASE! Anything, no matter how small will indeed so that we can continue to help people like Lovelyepona and Heather. Thank you so much if you have already donated! And feel free to contact any of us via PM or you can call my cell phone at ANY time @ (910) 382-8495

First of all, Hedgemom, PLEASE DON'T LEAVE THE BOARD!!!! You contribute plenty to this community through your insights and resourcefulness - and you might have saved the life of one horse by finding a phone number that was very tricky to locate. I would hate for you to leave. (I even hope that your new job doesn't cut into your Marestaring time. LOL!) Money is only one way of helping.
That said, I have already contributed what I can for now to the fund, and it might have gone to others, already. I hope that those who can afford to donate will do whatever they can. The fund needs to maintain a good balance so that it can act quickly in emergencies. Also, it might be helpful if the fund were governed by a board of, say, 3 people, who would receive and recommend on requests for assistance. That way, Heather would not be placed in the awkward position of either granting or denying money to herself. (She could be overruled by he other 2 members.)
Good idea?

i really like that idea devotee. heather does not seem like a selfish person AT ALL so i can easily see her not wanting to use the donated money on herself. hedgemom we know that not everyone can make a donation and i honestly don't think anyone meant to make you "feel like crap"!!! i'm actually surprised that you would even think that!!! the people on this board were just trying to help out one of our favorite members and remember, if it wasn't for heather marestare wouldn't exist. i think she DEFINATELY deserves our help even if it is just moral support.

I did not reply to the post to make anyone feel like crap!!!! Not everyone can give a monetary donations like others have said if you have something laying around that you are not using donate for a auction to raise funds. Most of the watchers on mare stare help more than they know by watching our mares so us farm owners can get some much needed rest during foaling season, or in some cases when we have a horse that needs to be watched very close. The viewers are here to lend a hand watching while we run errands or get some rest. With that said I would like to thank everyone very much who spends countless hours watching our beloved animals for us. I never meant to hurt anyones feelings and make them feel they have to leave the board. We are all a family!!! Maybe I should have worded my original post a little differently. Again I am very sorry if I have made anyone feel like crap. Heather is very near and dear to me and I would go to the end of the earth for her. I do not have alot of extra money either, if I did I would pay the bill myself. If we all rally together we can help not only Heather but many others that may need us is the future.

Devotee, we do actually have several boards handling the many different areas of this fund. We didn't want Heather to be in too much of an awkward position in that reguard. She has too much on her plate as is, BUT she does have a great deal of interest in the fund as it is associated with her and Mare Stare and we in no way want to compromise her good name.

Thanks for the response, Leslie. So, Heather would be eligible for a grant, and the boards could recommend that? I'd feel better, if that were the case. Best of luck with the fund-raising efforts! The people on Marestare are amazing in their generosity and ingenuity. Let's pull together and make ourselves count for each other!
