Thanks everyone for your encouragement with the twins although I'm not sure what I think about you laughing at me while I'm bouncing of the walls. (how come there's not one of these little faces with a tongue in check face - because the little wink just doesn't cover the attitude here?) Surprise did remarkable well with her bath. Although if anyone was watching they say that I had to push her out the door. She obviously does not like her little showers. So yesterday I took her out into the paddock just to play. Had to babysit so she or Trouble didn't start eating any dirt and rocks but wanted her to enjoy the sun and not be worried about the artifical rain gadget that assualts her pretty frequently. They both had fun. Today is their birthday. They are 3 months old! And I didn't need to have the vet here It's their first birthday without a vet in attendance. That is cause to celebrate in itself. Wish they were old enough to eat carrot cake but don't want to be causing any problems. So guess we will settle for an extra scoop of foal lac pellets. Suprise is the same height as Trouble but he still weighs more. She is, however, butt high so won't be long and she'll be taller. She needs to get heavier so she can kick the snot out of him when he jumps on her, the little bugger. She just stands there with a bewildered look on her face wondering why he's on top of her. He's such a little horn dog.

Still not getting ahead of the fungus with Surprise. Seems like I get one spot clearing up and another breaks out. Being gone for 3 days didn't help much.
Tomorrow the farrier comes to do another round of corrective trimming. Spoke with the vet last night and he'll check them after Ray is done and tweak if necessary. It's kind of a hard spot to be, the farriers think the vets should stay away from feet because they're not farriers and the vets think the farriers aren't vet so what do they know. So we'll see how I do on this tight rope. I don't care who does it as long as it fixes my kids.

Um thought you wanted to know-your cam is down again... Hmmmm.....it's working ok now and I didn't have to do anything to reset it. Don't know what the problem was. But thanks for letting me know, I appreciate it. The visit with the farrier went quite well. Trouble was on his best behavior. Tensed a little bit over one hind foot but other than that stood quietly. Surprise tensed over a couple of feet and was the most unsure over the right hind which is her injured hock but didn't get naughty over it. Overall a huge improvement from the last time. That was great. But, of course, they did their usual stuff, while you're working on one the other one is trying to pull on your clothes, nibble on you somewhere or whatever else to be getting attention. They are such characters. I'm going to start working with them using the massager I have so I can get them desensitized before I need to be clipping. I have an open house here Sept 10 and do show clips on the whole herd and would like the foal clipping to go smoothly.

Hello...Just wanted to let ya know the cam is down... You have a wonderful evening... Geex, I leave for a couple of hours and down it goes. Think it's running again. Did you ever see the twins with the massager? Surprise was better than Trouble about her legs but Trouble was better than Surprise about his ears. And, cross your fingers, I think I'm finally getting her fungus licked! The spot on her hocks looks like it's clearing up and so does the one at her pole although there are some little rough spots there so that's not totally gone. Also she has one small spot on each of two legs. I can hardly wait. The bad news is half my barn now has it! But at least they get over it quicker than the twins, so far anyway.

Just checked on the twins...The cam is down...Just thought you would like to know.... Thanks for letting me know. I've checked everything at this end and from what I can tell it's all working ok. The error message I'm getting makes me think there's something wrong at that end but I don't know enough to be sure. I've put a call into Heather to see if she can help. In the meantime, I'll keep fiddling with things to see if I can get it fixed.

OK after being down for nearly 24 hours the twins cam is now back up and running. Don't know what caused it to go down in the first place but in the last place it was ME! In the process of trying to figure out what was happening, I checked all of my connections and unplugged from a work USB port into a non working USB port so there was no way things could work that way. So now that I'm feeling REALLY STUPID and poor Heather and Jimbo have pulled their hair out trying to figure out what was wrong, the twins are back online. Sorry about the diruption.......I'm not to be trusted with computers, that's for sure. It's a good thing I do better with horses than machines.

On Friday Dr Gillette came to trim the twins again. He hasn't seen them in a month and was really excited to see how much improvement there has been in their legs in that amount of time. The major improvement was in their hocks. They are much straighter and definitely much more stable. Surprise still has major issues in the front and Trouble still has major issues with excess toe in the back but looks like we've finally taken a good solid turn in the right direction.
Both were good for the procedures but, of course, someone had to manage the free one to see they didn't interfere. They just can't stand the other one getting attention without them, no matter what form that attention takes. They are so funny.
Also, we figure at this point that they are probably about 2/3 of their normal size. Pretty good catching up when you consider at birth they were about half their normal size. They are gaining great ground and starting to look like normal foals!! YEA!!!!!!!! I think people will be surprised when they see them. No pun intended ;D

It's so great to hear the good news on the twins. Keep up the good work! I was watching them the other day when they were having a race and chasing each other around - poor Vee just kept eating away no matter how many times she had to step out of their way. LOL - what fun they are!
