Oh, I LIKE the name, Trouble, MiKael. I even like horses who make a lot of it. LOL! The owner was the one who went skeptical. You've done an amazing job with the twins, guiding them along the path toward healthy futures. The twins, Rosie, and Barbaro are the success stories of the year!

OK, the cam is back up for now. But the winds are really picking up and we're supposed to be getting our worst storm in 25 years with hurricane force winds so if the power starts flickering, I may have to turn off my computer so it doesn't get blown in this whole mess. The heavier winds aren't even supposed to hit here until close to midnight. I'll hold out as long as I can.

Well the phones were down today around 2:30pm Eastern Time. I tried to call to see how you fared. I can only hope all is well with you and yours. Your weather has yet again made the National Radio News report. We listen to a public radio station out of New York State and the headlines on NPR news this afternoon included mass power outages for Washington and Oregon. I don't know what's worse the frying pan or the fire, you poor folks out there are getting hammered.

Thanks for all of the concern. Dave went out several times during the storm to check on the horses and they all doing ok and the barn roof held so we were happy. We're all alive and well here and a lot warmer now that our power is finally back on. We were part of the over a million people without power. The damage was so severe that our power company didn't get any power up at all for the first two days. The substations and transformers were desimated. They have power crews coming from as far away as Kansas to help repair the damage. And then right after the storm the temperatures dropped below freesing. It was in the teens here in the early mornings.
We didn't have phone or power in the beginning but the phone came back online sometime on Friday evening. I was able to call out but couldn't get calls in because I had the darn ringer turned off. Didn't discover that until Saturday afternoon. We have a wood stove so was able to have some heat and keep our pipes from freesing, We lucked out with only minor storm damage again and the flooding stayed within the "normal" range for us. Did have water out front of a couple of stalls but everything is ok now.
I started to worry about water for the horses yesterday because we'd used up about everything we had stored up. I was preparing to take my troughs in the back of my truck into town to fill them but the power came back in the nick of time. First thing we did was get all of the horses water filled back up just in case we lost power again.
I think the wind messed up my alignment or something with the cam.I haven't got it working yet but hope to get it figured out here soon. The horses all weathered the storm ok. Surprise and Trouble have both been pretty frisky in the cold weather but I think they're glad the winds have died down.

Yes, Cheri, I know there is another one lurky out there ready to pounce on us again. Hopefully, we won't see anything as a bad as this one for a while. They are calling it a "generational" storm which I think means it's so bad we only see one like it once every twenty years. I've lived here all of my life and I think I haven't seen one like this since the Memorial Day Storm of 1962. That was a scary storm to me and so was this one!! Sure hope I don't see another one like it in my lifetime.
Heiress's wound is finally looking good. It quit draining last week and we took the stitches out the day of the storm. We're past the point of worrying about infection - thank God!! that was my big concern with her being in foal . Now were just trying to keep it soft to minimize the scarring as much as possible. There are a couple of spots where the stitches broke that are still pretty tough looking.
It's so cold here today, you can see the horses' breath on the cam. Trouble and Surprise get pretty fresh when it gets this cold. I'm still trying to get a new picture of them so I can send out a new update. They haven't been cooperating.

I've finally had it with the little monsters and I weaned them today. They've been being quite naughty when Lindsay cleans their stall and they think they can get away with about anything because they can hide behind mom, So now mom is gone. They are not happy and will probably be hoarse by morning. Vee seems to be doing ok with it. She's calling some but not as stressed as I expected her to be. They've been charging the door trying to get out but haven't really done anything that looks like they might try to go over the top. They are getting big enough that that would be a concern if I wait any longer so guess we'll see how they do.

Hi, Mikael and Dave, good luck with the weaning. I bet Vee is so happy not to have to go through that anymore. lol I'm also weaning my 2 little ones. NOT fun. I am so glad your weather has changed some. I would love to send you some of ours. It's been so nice here in SW Arkansas. We have cold nights, but all my bulbs are wanting to come up already, and the trees are in bud. Gees what weather we are all having. Shorts in the daytime,(some days) and heater on at night. Can't win for loosing. lol I just wanted you to know what a wonderful job you guys have been doing with your twins. I've been keeping up with their progress. I hope Heiress wounds heals good, poor thing. Sending prayers to you and in hopes that your weather improves and the twins do good for you. God Bless and Happy Holidays.
