Just think... had Street Sense not been there Hard Spun would have had a wonderful win to boot. I think the Preakness will be a great race if Curlin, Hard Spun and Street Sense are all there in great form. I now wish I had went over to EMD and bet Hard Spun to win place and show like I thought of doing.... it would have paid nicely. I just wasn't feeling up to driving 70 mins and then dealing with the crowds sure to be there on Derby Weekend. So I DVR'd and watched everything to my hearts content at home. What a great race! Awesome finish by Street Sense

I think Street Sense is enuff horse to win a Triple Crown; it would be so nice to have a Triple Crown Winner as it has been so long since the last time the Triple Crown has been won.

Street Sense had an amazing race! Calvin "Bo-Rail" did a fab job steering him all the way up to win from second to last, on the rail! That was a lot of luck too, of course. But the first Juvenile champ to win the Derby, and the first 2 year old champ to win since Spectacular Bid, and he was the favorite!! They hardly ever win!
He was my pick though! ;D I saw him win the Tampa Bay Derby, so I had to! He won in much the same fashion, sit behind for a while and slip in on the rail, except he only beat Any Given Saturday by a nose I believe. Great stretch duel though.
Rags to Riches was my pick for the Oaks too! (It was amazing, I never pick the winners!) Earlier on I was rooting for her to run with the boys...but I guess she (or her trainer?) wasn't up for it!
I don't know about the Preakness though...It's shorter so if Hard Spun does the same thing, he has a really good chance. Street Sense will have to be closer to the pace early on.

One wonders if they trainer hadn't had Hard Spun doing WR type of workouts (working him so hard so soon to the Derby); that maybe Hard Spun would have had more horse left in him at the end to hold off the challenge. Hard Spun has amazing speed. But I do think the best horse won the Derby ... Street Sense has more gears on him, fast turn of foot, professionalism, and a jockey who knows how to save ground. Street Sense has a more experienced trainer with him also --- who knows how to prep a horse for the Derby. Poor Curlin had a bad trip; and it must have been a shock to him to get so much traffic and bumping . I think he could have used a few prep races. Stll he got up to 3rd which means he beat 17 other good horses. Can't discount him in the Preakness. I loved the quote by Jerry Bailey (Retir. Jockey) ; said it was like the seas parted for Bo-rail and his horse. The Derby was a great race to watch. Street Sense going from 19th to 1st; and being the highest paying favorite ever to win the Derby.... breaking the breeders cup curse to boot. Street Sense had an amazing race!
