Derby week will be here soon... So I decided why not start a thread for the 2007 Kentucky Derby. I thought it would be nice to pay tribute to last years Kentucky Derby Champion Barbaro so I found a nice youtube video/ Run For The Roses on it and some lovely pictures of that great super horse we lost so tragically in January 2007. ------------------snip------------------- Quote: A tribute to Barbaro winning The Kentucky Derby. Rest in Peace Barbaro - You will be missed by many. April 29, 2003 - January 29, 2007 www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhdTCNCoL80

Churchil Downs Website: 2006 Kentucky Derby Video (Kentucky Derby 132) www.kentuckyderby.com/2006/derby_videos/This video is a higher quality video than the one I found earlier at you tube. The link to see the last years running is on the right center towards the top of the page. Also includes the K. Derby Prep Races. This is a really kewl website to explore.

Carly Kaiser is a teen very much into horse racing and she has put together some wonderful horse racing videos set to music . She put this nice tribute of Barbaro together showing him running in all his races up to his win in the Kentucky Derby. She set her video to theme music from the movie "The Rock". She put out the video on Jan 29 2007 after his passing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsyELaecWXIRIP Barbaro 132 Kentucky Derby Champion (2006) ----------------------------- OK... I got this thread started. If you find something to share about the this years Kentucky Derby please contribute. Got a link to a good article, website? Spill it. Maybe we'll see Regret on this thread eventually. LOL! Smoke her out . . . .
Well, here is my hope for the Derby this year. There are several horses and trainers I like, but I'm rooting for Curlin (unbeaten in 4 lifetime starts and unraced as a 2-year old) because if he wins, it might apply some brakes to 2-year old racing. I'm conflicted enough about racing (love/hate relationship), but the practice of racing 2-year olds invites all kinds of abuses. I also like Curlin's stride and mind.
That said, I really just want a glorious winner and a safe race.

Devotee with you. It is a Love/hate thing for me also I do so love the TBs, but disapprove of sooooo much more of what the TB industry has for their dirty laundry.
Barbaro now has a full brother. Lets hope that he is a superstar for just who he is, not what he might do

Me too. I agree. Even 3yr olds are still colts. 2 yr olds are like babies. Their knees aren't fully knitted. I'd like to see there be more time between the triple crown races also. It is such a gruelling series of races. It is hard for the K. Derby winner to have too come back so soon and race against fresh horses at a longer distance. I always am hoping that all those horses in the races have a safe journey. Barbaro's win was magnificent at the Derby. I wish that he hadn't gotten hurt as I truly believe he could have been that triple crown winner the sport has waited so long for. Maybe we'll see Regret on this thread eventually. LOL!
