I'm a bit of a research geek. If anyone needs anything, just ask! Beautiful horses, btw. Absolutely gorgeous.

Kat, I enjoyed the photos of your friends Friesians....very nice horses. Friesians are like potatoe chips.....can't stop with just one. And to put it more graphically....they are also called "black crack".

My friend said she will be posting more pictures soon. It's odd, but as much as I love the breed, I've never seen a Friesian in real life.

Are there any updates on majestic Eveline's progress or on glorious Franciska Patricia and her exquisite, zany filly (where have they gone?)? Thanks for sharing the thrill of these horses. I'm an avid ogler.

Evelina is 321 days today. Since Friesians generally foal between 325-330 days I expect she won't go much longer. Franciska and her filly are at a vet hospital. The filly has been experiencing a very rapid respiration rate. Tests are being run but nothing has shown up yet. The filly has remained very active and does not appear to feel bad. Hopefully, all will be well and they will return home soon. Thanks for watching the Friesians.

Thanks for replying, Pam. Please let Aarninks know that I am rooting for their filly. On cam, she always appeared to be doing all the normal routines (rather avidly), so I hope that her troubles are trifling. I do miss admiring her and Franciska. Eveline is a permanent fixture on my screen. I'm convinced that I'll somehow miss her foaling, either because of a momentary cam crash or because I've got to attend to my own barn - but I'll be watching.
Octavia and Lies are elusive, but a big thrill to see when they occasionally wander into view. I've seen at least 2 different horses in Octavia's stall - one large and one small. Who's who?

I'll pass the good wishes to the Aarninks. The filly, I've started calling her Babydoll because she is one, still continues the rapid respiration. The local vet is stumped and will contact foal specialists at NCSU tomorrow. Meanwhile, a call has been made to Holland and contact with a vet there will be made tomorrow to try an determine if there might be anything Friesian specific to Babydoll's problem. It would appear that the small sacs in her lungs are not working properly and all the work is being done by the large sacs. Does anyone have any thoughts or past experience?

I hope she feels better soon! I don't have any thoughts or past experience, but I will do some research and see what I can find out. On an unrelated Friesian note, I have more pics of my friend's Friesians (and her other critters as well). The Friesians are Nanneke, Mariijke and Amerentske (who is called Amy in the pics). www.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=39866372/a=35183587_26388298/t_=35183587

Ok. So the information we have thus far is as follows: - The filly has a very rapid respiration rate - She has remained very active and does not appear to feel bad I tried to find anything regarding a foal with a rapid respiration rate. www.xcodesign.com/aaep/displayArticles.cfm?ID=270nicuvet.com/Equine-Perinatoloy/NICU%20Lectures/Blood%20Gases%201.htmI doubt either of these will be of much help since they don't exactly pertain to this specific situation (not to mention every individual horse is a different case). I hope that the vet in Holland or the foal specialists at NCSU will be able to help the little girl feel better.

Kat, the pics of your friends horses and animals were adorable... thanks for sharing them. I pray that y'all can find what is wrong with the filly and that It isn't anything serious....

I'm glad you enjoyed them. She absolutely adores her critters. This is the first time I've seen all of them - until now, I had only seen pics of the horses, Oscar and the kittens. There were originally four kittens, but one mysteriously passed away. And one of the kittens has a leg problem (he won't use the leg and holds it near his body) but he's as happy as can be so it doesn't seem to bother him. I really hope the filly is ok! I feel like I'm chasing my tail around in circles trying to figure out what's going on with her. And if this is how I, a perfect stranger, feel, imagine how the owner feels!

I wish I knew anything that might be of some help, but I understand that NCSU's vet school is among the best for equine medicine - so you've got that going for you, down in your neighborhood. I'm very grateful for the updates and information. Please let us know of any news or reports. Thoughts and vibes are with the Aarninks . . . and eyeballs are on Eveline!

Hello group. I regret that I have not posted (or read posts) in quite a while. But I have been keeping up with "Babydoll" Aarnink. My prayers are with the Aarninks that good news comes soon. I am Eveline's mom (pronounced Avuuleenuu). She is doing very well. She is huge, has had a bag full of milk for a month now. Her teets are pointing more downward that inward. She has the "v" shaped belly. Her tail is relaxing, but no jello type feel to her tail area yet. And no waxing or dripping of milk. I am certainly ready, but will hold off as long as it takes for her little one to be healthy. This will be my first foaling experience (her second) so I am a nervous wreck. I really appreciate all of you that are helping me keep an eye on her. I wish you could be here with me for moral support when the time comes.

I will definitely try to keep an eye on her. Since my college classes are online, I'm usually awake at odd hours. I really like the name of your farm, btw!
