Dancer at Mulligan's Run is going into colic surgery.. Please keep Dancer, Shan and Heather in your thoughts and prayers. Shan went out to feed this morning and found Dancer not feeling well.
Dancer was the first foal born at MRF and is Shan's baby.
Prayers and hugs to all at MRF.
Heather or Shan will post as soon as they can.

Hey all....Thanks Angie for posting this for us. We've just checked into a local hotel and Shannon is soaking in the tub. This is hard for her since Dancer is her first baby and the first foal of her favorite mare, Vicki. Since we were here this time last year, we know that we're in good hands. Everyone couldn't wait to see "Gabby's" family and they've welcomed us back so nicely - even under bad circumstances.
Shannon found Dancer laying upside down (literally) this morning. She took her up to a stall and put her in and she again laid upside down. We took her to our vet and her heart rate was 96, her temp was 102.6 and we knew we had a problem.
Once again we found ourselves at the surgery window watching our beloved horse be sedated and cut open. While it's not a fun thing to have done to someone you love, it is an interesting surgery. However, unlike Gabby's, Dancer's colon was not normal looking. It was probably twice it's size in diameter and the first thing that popped out when they cut her open, was a huge balloon of gas. They popped it (I think) with a needle and then continued exploring. She had a soft stone like mass in her small colon - made of hair and food materials. Then a larger impaction in her large colon...followed by a stomach impaction. So, Dancer got the Coke Lavage tonight too.
She's packed back together, sewed up and back in her stall on IV meds and fluids. They'll scope her in the morning to make sure that her stomach is emptying okay.
She will have to be on stall rest for a month, paddock rest for a month and then back to normal. She's doing great, but still not fully out of the woods. Continued prayers are always appreciated.
Thanks a bunch guys! Angie will post more tomorrow when she hears from us.
