Mare Stare was started as a way for all farms to get their cams online. Those that have been with us since the beginning can agree that things have truly taken off this year and we have really been blessed, not just by new customers, but by the family that we have developed into. There have been sad births, happy births, scary births and those that took FOREVER to birth, but the outcome has all been positive, in my opinion.
So, just a question to everyone that reads and posts here....
What is it about Mare Stare (this site) that you like or dislike....
I'd love to hear your answers - no matter what they may be.

Well now Heather, I will think on that one, but honestly, might find it hard to find a dislike with anything you and Jimbo do.....

What got me hooked was being invited into all the barns too watch those beatiful mares give birth I have only been watching for about 3 months now and I caught 4 of them,I also think of ya all as kind of a family when things go wrong at birthing everyone pulls together and prays for a safe foaling and gives encouragement to other owners thanks so much for making this possible for me and so many others ,I will be staying awhile I am sure thanks again,MandyMe2

I watch whenever I can and those in Raleigh do too. I am grateful that there is such a place to be able to go and share the gift of life. Everyone on here is so much like family that they hurt when you hurt and they celebrate when you celebrate. I know there are lots of reasons to celebrate but what about creating some kind of memorial for those we lost? Not sure how this could be created but your talented enough that you will come up with something.
I have learned so much about horses from these boards that it ain't even funny. But the most wonderful thing is the people who post here. I feel like I have gained numerous new friends.

Hi Heather - Been coming to marestare for the last 2 years now and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the site!!
I wouldn't call what I do as a problem as I now open 2 windows and it's solved. I use to be in the middle of reading the posts and someone mentions a barn name and then I would flip back and open that barn window. Before I got the hang of it all by opening 2 windows - I would be clicking in & out to the cams & message boards constantly. Gosh I hope that makes sense!! Maybe you could call it laziness on my part - HA HA
A huge help lately has been Melanie posting the web sites of mares ready or overdue.
Also I am a marketing person and I know you had the T-shirts made - is there a link to buying marestare promotional products - like the mugs and T-shirts?? Just a thought.
Though I might not always sign in - I'm here reading and watching! A real Fan!!!
Heather - most of all THANK YOU for your hard work and sharing your love and passion with the rest of us!!!

I love being a part of this site. Getting to share in the special and yes sometimes sad moments with the barn owners and other members makes my day just a little brighter. It is a sense of family. It is nice to know that people can be so supportive of each other even though most of us have never met face to face. Can't think of anything wrong with the site in spite of the fact I miss so many births.

Ahhh Heather, its funny that you should ask this question as I just had a conversation with another viewer on it LOL ;D we are avid mare starers and were discussing what makes watching mares foal so addicting...and here is what we cam up with: 1. Watching the miracle of life come into the world. 2. Meeting new people and sharing in their joy and pain. 3. The excitement of knowing that you shared in the foaling. 4. Sending the alerts out so others dont miss the foaling. 5. Helping foal cam owners get some rest if needed. 6. Having cams that are easy on the eyes. 7. User friendly site where people like me who are NOT computer sauve can navigate LOL. 8. And last but not least...its very easy to access alot of the cams from here...I have had 3 different foalcam browsers that I could search for the cams that I needed but now I can come here and access them all LOL...its makes for easy access, especially if a mare is foaling and you need to get the cams up quick ;D The list of great things goes on and on but I chose the ones I believed were most important to me..I hope this helps out LOL there is one think that I dislike and its no reflection on marestare at all...I dislike the people who turn something so wonderful as marestare into a place they can come and turn upside down!!! (Rude, obscene post etc...) Ok, I think I am done LOL....ohhh noo wait forgot....mare stare also gives me an excuse to prepare my "marestare" comfort basket (kona coffee, international coffees, Pepperidge Milano cookies, peanut brittle and Mele Macs) LOL always can use an extra excuse for comfort LOL ;D ;D

Heather..I think this is a fantastic site and you do a great job! My only gripe is that sometimes people post numerous topics about the same horse, in stead of checking to see if one exists... It`s so much easier to follow the one topic, when updates are posted etc, rather than follow several... Other than that, all is great LOL!!

I have only been a member a short while and i think this is a wonderful idea .... although i have had horses for many year we are about to have our first foal (anyday now). I have gained so much knowledge and confidence from here and im truly greatfull to all the people who have allowed us into their lives to share the miracle of watching their mares foal. I would also like to thank the owners who have kept their cams on even when the going get tough and the post afterwards .... this has given me a real insight to some of the possible problems. as for dislikes .... havent found any yet apart from the odd rude comment or put down. So just to say a bigggg thank you to all and keep up the good work ... You are all great

Been thinking about this. I can't find anything I would change. As a breeder, it has certainly eased some of my stress to know that there are other folks watching who will call me if I'm not there. That in itself is worth more than you know. The support of marestarers is fantastic and this is just a fabulous site. While I will be through foaling, if Gloriosa EVER lets go...I will certainly follow the threads and definitely be back next year!!! Wonderful site, wonderful people!

I absolutely love this site!
Here are the only things I don't like... 1. It's very hard to get to every messageboard to congratulate on the new foal, but you are fixing that problem!
Well I said things... but I can only think of one thing! Things I love about this site: 1. I have met incredible people that have gave me great advice since I'm a young 'un... 2. When your new to the site people welcome you in here with open arms and make you feel like you've been a part of the marestare family for years. 3. This site gives me the basic knowledge of how a foaling can go wrong, right, and all of that inbetween. 4. These people are awesome because the openly welcome any and everyone into their barn to experience their horse's birth. 5. This site, last but not least, has an awesome staff that let's people freely talk and share their experiences... you can find great comfort and know you won't be embarrassed by asking simple dumb question that you may need to know...
I want to thank you all for providing such an awesome board. I don't know what I'd do without it! I mean really, my family don't know what would happen if I didn't have this computer to get on marestare!
I'm very glad that I can call myself a MARESTARER!!!

Thank you so much guys for sharing your opinions. Again - this has become so much more than I could ever have imagined. To have it be informational, life saving, stress relief, comic relief (when they see me in the stall ) ....that's all just a plus. I'm so glad to have you all here with us. The viewers are just as important as the cam owners. We truly are a family and everyone is needed. Thanks for being here! ;D

Heather, you've done a great job with this site. Too bad I've not been able to get my cams online! My only question is that I can't seem to 'find' where you can access the cam page from all the other pages?? Or is it just me? If I go to the alerts and updates page, I have to back out several pages to go to the cams page if there is a site I want to go to.
