Well what I can't fully understand is the vets' points of view. From the way I read it they're all just writing Harley off. Is it ONLY about money for those vets?

There must be a vet out there that would give Harley a fighting chance. I think he needs an IV and maybe some gavage feeds (don't know if they do that for foals, but don't see why not).

Could we all Google large animal vets in Wisconsin or the universities and e-mail the situation along with pics of Harley to some vet clinics and see if someone will go out there? Someone on their board also mentioned contacting local media, ANYTHING to get the word out so that maybe a compassionate vet will hear the story and want to help.

Just kind of brainstorming some idease as now that I've seen his pictures, I can't just stand by. Time is running out for Harley, he needs help yesterday.

I personally contacted Heather regarding the posting of the message in the Mare Stare Cares fund area , when/ if she deems it necessary, she has my permission to remove the message from that area of the forum...... not that she needs it, lol

I presume that since this is the thread about helping Harley and Janet, this is probably where it belongs.

And, I guess that people can choose whichever way they prefer to donate, if they choose to donate at all.... It's not about a competition, its about helping Janet, both ways the money gets to where its needed.

As i watched Janet cuddle close to Harley and Missy lay down next to them both i couldnt help but cry. It inspired me to write this poem. I hope you enjoy it.


"Every Living Being"

Every living being that is put here
Is put here for a reason and this is clear
Every living being is given the chance
To enjoy life and to dance

Every living being is given a pair of eyes
To see the world around them and look up to the skies
And every living being is given a soul
That makes them who they are, makes them whole

And obstacles that sometimes are tough to surpass

As I was sitting at work this morning all I could do is think about Harley and all of you that are showing so much love and support. I will first say that I am aweful with words and expressing my feelings so I am sorry if some of this makes no sence at all and if I just form one topic to the next..please bare with me...So here I go.....
Once again I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for caring so much about Harley and my best friends Janet. It is so hard for me to not be right next to my best friend/partner in crime. We have always been there for one another no matter what.And there I sat at work knowing my best friend is struggling once again to save a horses life. Janets life revolves around her fur children as that they are her children. We both agreed that we would not say anything about finances to you all as we dont want people to think and assume we are asking for money as we are not. Right now we just both seem to be strapped with your everyday issues. And yes, we all have our everyday expenses and to add our animal expenses. I know some are thinking and saying then why do you own animals? Well its not that ya cant afford to take care of them, its some of the worse things that may cross your path owning them. No one ever wants to think that something like this could happen but yet we all know that it sure can. But do we put money aside for "if"this kind of stuff happens? No we dont...we decide to deal with it at the time if it happens. Most horse owners. in fact. I believe all have vet bills and like I said before...very very very big vet bills..All Janet is asking for is the continues moral support no matter what happens. She is honestly doing everything she can with what she has to work with. So please...I aks....with what happens to Harley, no matter if you agree or disagree....please keep showing Janet and Harley all your wonderful and much appreciated support. Janet is trying to do what she can for him..Let me tell ya a bit about our day yesterday besides Janet trying to keep up with Harley...we were both on the phone all day yesterday with vets, people calling Janet and letting her know we are all behind her. When I wasnt on the phone..I was on the computer reading all of the posts from you all, reading allmy emails,and doing all the researchon all the info you all have sent and posted. We appreciate EVERYTHING. My mind has crashed and Im trying real hard to rebbot and restore my hard drive and struggling...but everytime I look at that little guy in that stall...I keep telling myself to pull it together...you all are so supportive and the reassurance and encouragement is great appreciated. Im sure it aint just my mind that has crashed...its everyones...everyone is trying so hard to figure out ways to help Harley.Not just Janet and Harley are struggling this battle but we all are...you all are here with us. So with all this said..I should wrap it up...i wasnt getting anything done at work.
I want to thank each and every one of you. But I have a very special thank you to make......
If it werent for Bev from KBHilltop we all would not be on this board today fighting for Harley's life. It was Bev who helped Janet get her cams and which ones were good ones and it was Bev who helped Janet set them up, and also it was Bev who set up our Message Board and continues to do work on it. If it werent for her...we probably wouldnt been able to share this all with you as Janet and I are lets say computer dumb..lol. All the poems and tributes are just phenominal..I cry reading every one of your posts. All the prayers you all have given and continue sending mean the world to us and it shows that it means the world to Harley and Missy who both still continue to fight. Thank you ALL for wanting to help with Harley, being there for Harley and Janet, for all your love you have given us, all the prayers, all the support, and thank you all for wanting to start a fund for Harley.
All we can do right now is take things day by day.
Thanks again EVERYONE!!!!!!!!! There is so much more I want to say but just cant seem to do right now.

Vet said she didn't know how in the world Janet did it, but his igG levels are exceptionally GOOOOOOD!!

So his immune system is intact, so we move on to more care He is going to be on a mild antibiotic, just to keep him covered, yogurt to help his gut keep good bacteria, and maalox for his belly. Janet will continue to use enemas as needed.

Tomorrow another vet will be out who has experience with casting and they will determine the best course of action - casts, bracing, will maybe do x-rays if needed. Hopefully figure out a plan to help his legs mature.

So the first hardest battles seem to be won... and Janet will continue to do the best she can to keep fighting the new ones that come along.

SHE CAN'T STOP CRYING when she sees how much everyone loves and cares for him.

A vet in Madison , WI said they will look at Harley, they will travel the 5 hours tomorrow to take him there, and they did not ask for the money up front.

They plan to take x rays and examine him, then go from there, and make special braces for him , or find out something to help if they can.

Thats all the info I have, I know it's not much - when/ if i know more, I will let you know
