I'm sorry Brittany for carrying on this discussion, I just wanted to answer a couple questions some folks had. I am really looking forward to seeing the piggy cam actually! I think it's very exciting! Just like it was when I saw BB and Beeker on cam. I do realize that every animal I see born on a cam could end up a fate I don't like but I still like to share in the excitement of the birth and watch them grow. I also know that almost every foal I watch be born and grow up will probably be sold to a different home and a day will cam where they won't be on cam to watch. I;m just very excited and grateful to see all the animals for as long as I can, including cute little piggies.

Ok, so here is my story. My daughter has a very special bond with animals (it's a little scary for me sometimes) All animals love her! When Anna was 2 years old SHE raised a sweet little auracana hen. She was white with blue ears and legs and would come running to her to be held. Anna LOVED this chicken. Anna couldn't make any noise because she had a tracheostomy tube since she was 2 months old. I've always believed that was one of the reasons animals liked her so much. So anyway, Anna also has three kitties. One named "Little T" especially loves her. One day Anna was sitting in the grass holding her chicken while Little T was loving on them both! I took a picture! Well, our new baby pig (I'll spare Allison her name!) also loved Anna and got very jealous when she saw all of the attention Anna was giving the hen and kitty. So, I took a picture! Of course Anna could not scream but somehow the cat new she did not like what the pig was doing to her and he ran to save his girl! He hissed and scratched and chased the pig off and I took a picture! Anna had her trache removed in January and is now talking, yelling and singing. She is still very hard to understand since her speech is very delayed but her animals still like her and that is what is important! I just thought I'd share a cute little story to lighten things up and to pass the time while waiting for the PIGGY CAM! I hope you don't mind!

Thank you so much for the lovely story and the beautiful pictures. Anna is a cutie. I love the colouring of the pig - very fashionable! :-)

Oh, what a cute story - and even a cuter Anna! She is precious!!! It is great that Anna has that special bond with animals! Animals have that sense when someone, even a little girl, will love them and take care of them. So - where ARE the piggies? Did they all go to market? Did the little stay home?

That particular pig has crossed the Rainbow Bridge but I did not eat her. She was the only pig we had at the time.
Anna is 4 now and can talk it's just her own unique language. For example we have a new puppy named Leroy. The other day she was sitting on her bed and Leroy was laying upside down in her lap. She had a toe on Leroy's back foot in her fingers saying "An dis beebee uh uh doe to Wah mawt!" Which translated exactly is "And this little piggie goes to WalMart!" instead of market! ISN"T THAT CUTE!!!
BTW - "Beebee" means "little" and "UH UH" means "pig"!

Awww TSSP that's such an awesome story! I love how the kitty protected Anna! Usually they say it's dogs who are protectors and loyal to their humans but that's so awesome that the kitty was her body guard! hehe
Thanks for sharing with us that story. And I love the Wal-Mart one!! So adorable!!!

Super excited to see the pig!!
Allison, just an FYI, lamas and sheep are sheared with the exact tool used to clip a horse. It would be very hard to cut them very deep if at all. And as someone pointed out they are very happy when its done and no siccors can not be used and actually would be more likely to cut an animal by accident than clippers. If you want any more info PM me. I have clipped many horses and never once cut them. I have seen many sheared sheep and lamas and alpacas and none had cuts on them. It just like buzzing your head.
Anyways sorry, but had to put that out there.
I eat meat, sorry but thats why they were put on this planet. Its part of the food chain.
Alright, back to the pig. I can not wait to see her!

Well I'm relieved to know that shearing the sheep, llama isn't painful and most aren't nicked or cut. But I still boycott wool because of the cruel mulesing. Warning graphic content and photo: www.savethesheep.com/f-MuelsingMyths.asp I appreciate though those of you who have experience with sheep and llamas easing some of my concerns regarding the shearing at least.

And the pig thing is CUTE..how did you know how to translate it? Did you just gt used to it? I guess "scares" is the wrong word to use. To clarify, is makes me nervous when she runs up and hugs great big dogs she's never met! But really I've learned that little tiny dogs are more likely to snap than the big ones! Anna has her own language that she has made up just since she's been able to make noise; about a year now. She was able to wear a speaking valve for the last year she had the trache. Also she has been going to speech therapy and I taught her about 50 signs. So if she makes up a word and I don't know what she is saying she will give me a sign or point to it or go get it and bring it to me. She is very resourceful! We had another pig named "Louie" I'll have to dig up some pictures of him! He was very funny! He had his own kiddie swimming pool to lounge in. He would actually smile when he was happy like when he would "INSIST" on having his tummy scratched!! He loved that!

Oh it would make me nervous to to see her run up to big strange dogs! It makes me nervous when a big strange dog comes up to me. lol Isn't it amazing how animals and children can communicate on so many levels where you don't need words. Animals respond to love in any form especially when it's coming from someone their size! hehe That's awesome that Anna has made up her own language and knows signs. She sounds like a really smart kid! Good for her for persevering!

I once helped a friend load a couple of hogs to go to the slaughterhouse. What a rodeo THAT was! We tried everything, putting a garbage can over their head and backing them in, you name it. One got loose and shot between my legs (now get this...that pig was darn near 300 lbs and didn't fit too well there) I got knocked arse over teakettle! It took another 10 minutes for everyone to quit laughing before we could resume! I finally got the bright idea of putting hay down in the trailer and on the ramp...and they went right in! ; ) Christy OH Christy, your tooo funny. I would have loved to have been there to see that. lol

twosuperstudponies awwwww and about the language that is so cool..alot of people say I am able to walk up to a biting dog and it will let me pet it but I think that has wore off and now it has moved up to horses.
