Just found this, thanks to someone over at HorseCity's boards:
Edit 5: Barbaro is now in the recovery pool (7:40 pm). He has a bone plate fusing his ankle and pastern and a caste has been placed over this. Dr. Richardson described the surgery as one of the toughest he has performed. He is awakening from anesthesea in the pool, and once he completely comes around, he will be transported via sling back to his stall later this evening (it usually takes an hour from when they are placed in the pool to when they are able to return to their stall.) Bloodhorse has a great mid surgery report (6 pm) that outlines the catastrophic nature of the injury. Also, we have some pictures of Barbaro in our gallery taken at Fair Hill last saturday. Feel free to download them.

Just had a press conference with the surgeon on ESPN News. He's in his stall and very comfortable, and eating. When they got him out of the pool and put him on his feet, he jumped up and down a few times, and actually dragged them, jogging along, back to his stall. They are optimistic, but it's still a coin-toss as to how things will go. Infection and laminitis are definite risks in the time to come. For now, things seem to look good.

Bloodhorse.com without a doubt has the best, most detailed written update - almost a translation of the press conference, that I have found online so far. Let's just continue to pray for Barbaro - he'll need the prayers for the next couple weeks, if not months. I pray the worst part is over though.

Well, my "connection" says that Barbaro is holding up very well and coping with post surgery stress like the champion he is and always be.
She says he still has a lot of fire in his eyes, and his spirit was not tarnished at all with the injury.
He still needs a lot of prayers as the recovery process is the longest road.....

Bloodhorse has the xray on their site, too, now. Pretty amazing, eh? I am fretful of the difficulties that might lie ahead, but it is good to see the smile on Michael Matz's face and to know that Barbaro is browsing on hay. I have many conflicted feelings about horseracing, but the world of the track contains so much that is precious to me. And so does the world of veterinary medicine!

That sure is a lot of hardware in that leg! Yikes! Prayers he makes it through the long, difficult recovery and rehab.

Thanks devotee - I didn't need to register, saw the article just fine? If anyone is interested in a LOT of Barbaro talk/info, I have got a 13 page-long thread going over at Horse City's "General Chit-Chat" Forum on Barbaro - it is full of just about every single update I've been able to find (and others have found as well) in the last 44 hours or so! forums.horsecity.com/cgi-bin/bb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=29;t=047768;p=1It is a LOT of reading - but I prefer to copy and paste the text of the articles, since a lot of those links will eventually be obsolete. Keep the prayers going!!!! He still has a long road ahead of him!!!!!
