Debbie has given me permission to start a thread on Eveline, who is the brightest star in my Mare Stare firmament. She is, in all things, the queen. I'm sure that Debbie will add to the thread as it progresses and give everybody lots of background. Here's the cam link: www.marestare.com/woodduck.phpDuring the day, the cam is sometimes on Tina, who is Eveline's filly from last year. From that view, you can see both stalls, although Eveline's stall is in the background. The night-time view is of Eveline's stall. For now, both of them come and go, but Debbie will probably start keeping Eveline up at night as she gets closer to her date. If you want more information and background on Eveline (and Tina), check the Friesian MB. maremulligan.proboards40.com/index.cgi?board=fresian&action=display&thread=1174108727

WOO HOO! I was secretly lurking through Eveline's threads while you were gone Devotee. She is gorgeous! I pray she is nicer to us than Miss Tavia was. Her stall is empty for now but I will keep watching!

I was checking the cam today wondering when a thread was going to be started for her. Glad you are back Devotee.

Eveline gets a feeding in a bit. She is eagerly awaiting Debbie. LOL! You will never see a horse and person adore each other more than they do.

OH Devotee. You are so sweet. Eveline is the queen in my book too. For anyone watching, you may see me do just about anything to her. She pretty much tells me what she wants and she usually gets it. I'm such a sucker when it comes to Eveline. Lately she just can't get enough of her udder being cleaned!!! Hope I don't embarrass anyone.

I missed your latenight feeding tonight, because it coincided with my own. Did I miss an udder-cleaning extravaganza? My (unpregnant) mare is a glutton for udder cleaning, too. She drops her head all the way to the ground and grunts like a pig. I'm certain that Eveline has much more dignified ways of showing pleasure, right? She is so regal!

Well Devotee, it sounds like we both have very spoiled horses - midnight feedings, udder scratches! Doing those things for Eveline are the thrill of my life! When are you going to put cameras in your barn so we can watch you and your antics? I was happy to read how much you enjoyed building your barn and am very happy that you have it the way you want it. I hope your wish for more land comes true too. My barn will be totally different when it is finished. It started out as a pole barn. My husband used it to store farm machinery. It is 36 feet square right now. The two stalls I have are 12 X 18 roughly. We are extending the front of the barn 12 feet and extending one side 18 feet. There will be 2 additional stalls. They will be 18' square. My husband won't let me have more than two horses. I will have two nice birthing stalls and two additional stalls for foals. I hope to move the fronts on the old stalls so they will also be 18' square. The aisle in the middle will be 18 feet since the old poles were already 18 feet apart. The construction requires most of the siding to come off, the roof is coming off and the electric box and wiring must be moved. When it is finished I will have a wash area and feed room. I am really looking forward to that. So if you see Eveline or Tina acting crazy, it just could be because of all this!

Glad to know you're there for us foalingirl! Eveline is already beginning to get some relaxation around her tail and her vulva is longer than usual. Udder looks good too. But she is still too wide to foal any time soon! She presses her butt into the stall walls quite often but it is hard to know if that is positioning or because she just wants to scratch on the rough oak walls of her stall. It's a wonder she still has any tail left. But she does. I gave her a hose bath yesterday late because it was so hot and she kept stepping on her tail!

I am really looking forward to that. So if you see Eveline or Tina acting crazy, it just could be because of all this! There will never ever ever be cams in my barn because, when I quit boarding and brought the horses home, I torched all my formal mucking attire. Now I do horse care in whatever I feel like wearing or not wearing. Also, it's bad enough when the vet and farrier have to witness my horses licking my face and presenting their AHEMS for scritchies, I don't want half the world watching. (There you are on your cell phone, and Pam has just let Zavia out for the first time, I think. Zavia is hilarious!) Now lookee here, Debbie. If your hubby will only permit you to have 2 horses, why is he building you 4 stalls? If his math is that bad . . . well, you might need to worry about the construction some, but I don't think you need to worry about collecting a couple more horses. My farrier always tells me that if you have 4 stalls, it's a sure sign that you're going to end up with 5 horses. I'd tell you all about my barn dimensions and the building permits and variances and appearances before Planning and Zoning, but all the yawning would deplete the world oxygen supply. I think I've got a set-up similar to yours, but no espresso bar. You know. I do have a decent aisle, feed/tack room, and hay storage. The big thing for me was north/south orientation and ventilation for summer/winter. I'm glad to read about Eveline's drooping vulva. Keep us posted on every little change, if you can manage to do that. I'm determined not to miss her foaling this time around!
