I really hope that butter foals soon. I have been reading all the updates, and I would have a different vet come out soon. I have a mare do this last year, and the foal was not in the correct possion, when she started to foal it came out just a head no feet. I do not mean to scare you but you really should have her looked at. My vet at the time said the same thing, that she is fine this is normal, but later the same vet said well I guess that the foal was not in the right place . I could have told her that. The mare is fine and due any day to foal again, but the foal did not make it. If we had know that the foal was in the wrong possion we would have been better prepared to know how to get it out, or have taken her to the Medical Center and had her foal there. Again do want to scare you, but I did have this happen and it was not fun.

We had one try that too, about two years ago. You can not mess around when it comes to foaling.

That stinks, mine we where able to get its back legs pushed back in, but it had not developed and tendons in her hocks. She had to be put down, lovely Black Dutch Warmblood filly, By Grabdile(SP) out of a Jazz mare. I was so sad about that one, you are sad about all that you lose, but this was the mares last. We do have two coming this year out of that mare by Embryo Transfer. ;D

I'm sorry that no one lives near you guys. It's always nice to have back up when you need it. I'll keep my fingers crossed that she foals today or tonight. I know the wait is driving you guys nuts, but it will be worth it.

I am happy to here that she recovering. One of my friends had a foal last year va C-section, the cole was 180lbs at brith. He was just to big fo the mare, it has been a full year since that day, and she still have swelling, and is still recovering. Also she had Twins the year before, and carry them FULL term(345 days). So she has lots of room and lets them grow to big. So she is going to breed her to a 12.1 hand pony this year, if she looks ok to breed.

from Buttercup's Dad:
I went to the vet's office today and talked directly to the vet who deals with horses around here. I told him how she has been showing signs of being ready since last Wednesday and how I have read on a vet's site on how they can hold off for 2 weeks and he said he has seen some hold off longer than that, up to a month. He asked if she is eating and pooping and she is doing all that, so he said she is progressing along, but she is probably holding it off. I asked him about her being bred to her father and he said it is common to bred back to the father for one generation so that shouldn't be a problem. We know it didn't happen more than one generation. We know that for a fact. Again he sees no reason to come out to our house yet. She has been laying down lots last night and this morning/afternoon. She is pushing really hard against the top rail of her fence. So hard we can hear the wood straining. We are afraid she will bust the pole!! LOL
Well, that is where we are with our Buttercup at 7:45 pm Thursday. She is just about as stubborn as the rest of the girls in the house but she listens most of the time!! And she doesn't kick me like my daughters do!!

I sure hope the vet is right, and everything is ok with Buttercup and the foal!! I'm sure she will be fine...we just get worried is all!!
I just had to laugh at your last comment!! Nice to see humor in your post, even though we all know how stressed out you must be right now!!

Thanks for the update. It's hard to sit back and wait Sooner or later you'll look outside just in time to see her give birth to her wonderful foal
