She is getting better again!! Whoohoo!!! Praise the Lord!!! Thank you for keeping us posted on her. I wonder if she's far enough along that inducing labor is an option? The steroids should help the foals lungs develop too, so that would be good. Good thoughts and Big Hugs going out to them.

Dr Swor said Fancy is a lot better today. She is eating grain but not hay. Said she wants to eat the candy and not the other so they are going to switch her to Equine Sr since it has hay in it. Blood count percentage is remaining stable after the oxyglobin! Still on fluids and oxygen. No more steroids for now as they don't want her to founder. Have her feet padded and lots of soft bedding. Urine is clear of blood now. Doing a in dept ultra sound today to make sure they aren't missing anything. Wound looks really good too. Still in ICU but if the ultra sound is good today, they will put her in a regular stall. Still have her on regumate. She's at 320 days today.
Foal is still alive and appears to be in no distress.
She'll call back after the ultra sound.
Will update again later.
Thanks!!!

YAHOOO!!!! Fancy Is On The Right Road!!! ;D

Had several specialists doing the ultra sound and found several hematomas associated with the uterus. Not sure if they are in the wall or outside the wall but they are associated somehow. Several different areas. Looks like some from the trauma and then some from this past weekend when she got really ill. Looks like she had started bleeding and it caused her to go into shock again.
Cervix is thinning and the amniotic fluid is cloudier meaning she may be thinking about foaling. They don't want her to foal anytime soon because she may have tears in the uterine arteries and veins that may reopen and she could bleed to death. They are discussing doing a C-section to prevent this from happening but even that isn't a sure solution. They have a team discussing what the right treament is. Even the C-section is risky and they'd have to get in there and tie off the bleed quickly. They don't have an actual solution yet so we are just hoping she can continue to hold out for awhile.
----------------- Oh please fancy dont foal now!!!

Fancy seems a lot better today. She is eating and drinking well. Much brighter than she has been. Cervix is even thinner now and looser. Not much of a bag yet but she didn't bag up at all lastyear. Amniotic fluid is cloudier.... They still have her on the regumate. Will keep her on it until she decides she is going to foal. Still not sure if they are going to let her foal or take it c-section. They are worried about the veins and arteries and also worried a clot may come loose. They are trying to move her out of ICU. Red blood cells staying around 15 which is MUCH better. At one time, she was at 6! She is perfusing much better today so they have taken her off of the oxygen and fluids.
They asked us to leave her there until after she foals, they just don't feel comfortable sending her home to foal with these issues.
She is still aglutinating so they'd like to see that clear up also.
Sherrie may not want me to post this but the bill is now almost $6000! Need a fund raiser! LOL!
Dr Mohr wants us to understand there is no way to know if this foal is viable... not what we wanted to hear but we understand it.
Thanks for your continued prayers! She and her foal really need it!
-------------------- Lets go Fancy, you are doing great!

I've been keeping track of this thread and glad to hear news seems to be getting better. Praying Fancy and her foal are safe and sound. And my thoughts are with you and your family through all of this trauma. Hopefully the future will be bright.

**Update**
Fancy foaled at 5:45 She had a very weak pulse and they were beginning to initiate CPR. She is very weak. They believe she is bleeding and they're treating her with every clotting agent they have.
Foal is a colt, maybe buckskin or dun, not sure yet. Was born with no respirations or pulse. They performed CPR. He is now breathing with a pulse. Dr Swor wants us to head down there in case things go the other way. Foal maybe septic, not sure if there is any brain damage yet. Running tests.
We will contact Tonja and David if we hear anything so they can update Sherrie and the board.
