Kel, that is amazing. I bet you might be right. What if fancy let herself go, to protect someone, or her foal... Maybe, if Fancy might not have given in, they would have lost the poor colt.
One thing is for sure, Fancy died for a reason, but we will never know that reason. I beleive, like you Kel, that maybe she did it protect someone, or her foal.

Such a beautiful mare.......it's hard when life throws us things that we can understand. I truly believe that there is a reason for everything....it just hard to wait until you can figure out the reason why.

Dr Mohr just called. The colt was doing very well at midnight. He's has taken a turn for the worst now. Blood pressure keeps dropping. Have him on meds to keep them up.
Said they are doing everything they can right now.
She'll call back later.

This was the updates for today, before he passed:
10 AM:
Dr Swor called,
His abdomen is swelling now. We are waiting on lab work to see if this is something they can help him with. They are still having problems keeping his blood pressure up.

Sherrie and I have been talking about his status. Need you guys to know that he is so very important to us. A part of us died when we lost Fancy and we felt he would help fill that void. We may have to make the decision to let him go. If he is suffering unnecessarily, it's only fair we discontinue efforts. He doesn't deserve to suffer. Our hearts are breaking again.

We know the wonderful staff at A&M are doing all they can.
We aren't going to make a decision until we hear back from them.

Thank you all for sticking with us thoughout this.

The update after he passed :
He made the decision for us. He's gone to be with his mom now.
He quit breathing and there was nothing they could do.

I hate this is my first post. I have quietly followed this story but felt the need to post how sorry I am. I know how it feels to love and lose both mama and baby and sometimes the only comfort is to know they are together and painfree. They will always look down on you and thank you for all your efforts in trying to save them.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. My deepest sympathy to Fancy and her colt's family. I know you are truly devastated as we all are. Have some comfort in that they are together and that you did all you and A&M did all you possibly could.

I am so sorry for your losses. My heart breaks when I hear these, but I know its a part of owning and loving our equine friends. May they run forever in the green pastures across the rainbow bridge. Hugs to all of you.

I'm soooo very sorry! and they have the deepest of my condolences! But at least they have the assurance that he is not alone in heaven... he has his momma. He can run, buck, and kick up his heels now, no worries.
